NEIGHBORS IN NEED
NIN offering will be collected on Sun. Oct. 8. It is a special offering of the United Church of Christ to benefit disadvantaged neighbors of the UCC in the United States & Puerto Rico. 1/3 of the offering is used for American Indian Ministries. The other 2/3 is utilized by the Board of Homeland Ministries, Commission for Racial Justice, Office of Communication & Church in Society, & the Coordinating Center for Women. It supports justice, advocacy, & direct service projects by Justice & Witness Ministries.
The Saline area CROP Walk will be Sun., Oct. 1. The donations collected by the walkers will be used to fight hunger around the world through Church World Service. In the last 20 years, walks have raised more than $249 million to help struggling families - both around the world and around the corner. 25% of the money raised in the Saline area goes to Saline Area Social Services to help those in need right in our own town. The walk begins at the First United Methodist Church on Saline Ann Arbor Road with registration at 1:30 p.m. The walk begins at 2:00 p.m. There is a 1 mile & a 3 mile walk. Refreshments are provided back at the Methodist church as participants finish. Join the fun with your family and friends by spending an afternoon in the beautiful fall weather helping those who are hungry.
